SWAT Season 7 Trailer Reveals Alex Russell’s Exit In Two-Part Episode

A new trailer for S.W.A.T. season 7 reveals Alex Russell's exit from the series in a two-episode event bidding farewell to his character. Russell has portrayed Officer Jim Street on the show since season 1, when he was one of the newest members of the team. He has been a main cast member for the entire run of the series, with the exception of season 7, where he is listed as recurring.

Now, CBS (via TV Promos) has released a trailer for S.W.A.T. season 7, episodes 4 and 5, teasing Russell's exit from the series.

The emotional trailer promises a two-hour event. Since this will be the final season, the long-time team member's exit promises to be the show's biggest yet. The two-part episode will air on Friday, March 8.

Alex Russell's Exit Leaves A Major Hole In The S.W.A.T. Team

Russell's exit is a heavy blow to the rest of the series

, which will be the final outing for Hondo (Shemar Moore) and his team. Jim has been a team member since the beginning and was almost permanently kicked out of S.W.A.T. for his impulsive, sometimes irrational decisions. However, he was able to prove himself a valuable member of the team, becoming a key asset on many missions throughout the show's run.

Despite CBS reversing S.W.A.T.'s cancelation, Jim's return is short-lived, with his last planned appearance in episode 5 not even standing at the halfway mark for the 13-episode season. The same goes for Dominique Luca (Kenny Johnson), who also appears in a recurring role throughout the final episodes. Although these developments make the team feel less whole in its final season, it also highlights just how much of a bookend the episodes will be.

While Jim's regular presence on the team will be greatly missed in the show's final episodes, his two-hour sendoff is promising an emotional, fitting end for his character. The double episode has a chance to show how much he's changed over the course of the series, a satisfying way of ending his story. That won't be the end for S.W.A.T., though, which will still have 8 episodes left once the long-standing team member departs.
